Pit Bulls from a Trainer's point of view
RSS

This is Rolex and I had to post what his trainer had to say about him and the pit bull breed. It is great to hear positive press from a professional trainer's point of view. Believe it or not, we called several very highly recommended trainers and each once said they did not want to work with the Pit Bull. Very sad. This trainer from Cumberland Canine was the only trainer that had no prejudices against the breed and wanted to work with him. Well below is what they had to say after training was over. Shame on people who call themselves professional dog trainers and have a predjuice towards one breed.

Rolex, Not Your Average Pitt Bull

Rolex, Not Your Average Pitt Bull magnify

Look at that face, isn't it the cutest Pitt Bull you have ever seen? Rolex has been doing great on his training. Remember Rolex is going on five months old and has been coming to Cumberland Canine Monday thru Friday from 9am until 6pm for the last two weeks. I know if you know me or have read my stories you know that we like the dog to stay with us three to four weeks day and night, then we teach the owners how to get the same results we do. Well, Rolex’s parents wanted him to come home each night to be with their family (four hours of driving each day). So how’s it going? SUPERDEDUPER!! WAIT!!! I meant SUPERDEDUPERLY!!! This is one very well bred Pitt Bull and I must say in the defense of all Pitt Bulls around the world, MOST are good and it’s bad owners making the Pitt Bull do the things that they do. Any Pitt Bulls I have worked with in all my years were great once they were shown how they are supposed to act and what is and isn’t acceptable behavior. The Pitt Bull is one of the most sensitive dogs to correction. The more a dog is sensitive to correction the better, faster and when the owner follows through each year becomes one of the best breeds ever to own. Ok, sorry, lets get back to Rolex. Our first day together was a just getting to know you day. But know pulling, jumping, or biting, he did have one moment during his first day of checking in and I was reaching up and giving him about a zillion kisses and Yep he kissed and pinched me with his ever so sharp baby teeth. Another lesson I taught myself and his Daddy, always have a means of correction, especially during training. Oh but you should have seen his face after he did it, he was like, Oh No, I messed up on my first day. Well, he pouted a bit but a good trainer will forget a miss-behavior immediately after the correction is made.

Once Rolex and I got to know each other and he knew I was someone he would enjoy spending time with we got right to work on day two. Let me tell you this little guy is like a sponge, absorbing each thing I had to show him. At the end of week one, Rolex had already learned heel, sit, down, come, and place. Each morning he came, you could see the joy on his precious little face as he got out of the car. He would see me and I could see his whole face light up, like wow I just love this person who is teaching me all this cool stuff. Dogs and puppies love to learn and the way they look at me is simply priceless. Even when doggies come back for a visit or a refresher coarse as soon as they hit our gravel road they perk up and start looking around, then when they see Jim or I, they just go nuts with joy. Why is that? Because a dog that is shown what is acceptable behavior is ever so appreciative and once they are taught how to act, it almost even changes their whole facial expressions. See dogs are like humans when it comes to learning, anything that is done consistently over 30 to 45 days becomes a habit. Now keep in mind a habit isn't always a good one and that is why most dog owners call us because they want the bad behavior their dog is showing to go away but they aren't sure how to do it. Now in Rolex's case, his parents knew from the beginning that they wanted to have a well behaved puppy and most importantly wanted to give Rolex the chance to be able to have the opportunity to learn everything possible at a young age. Most people think puppies will grow out of bad behavior, not the case, I like to tell puppy owners not to accept anything out of a puppy that you would accept from an adult dog.

Be back later.

Hugs

Rolex - One Smart Pitt Bull Pup

Rolex - One Smart Pitt Bull Pup magnify

Look at that face, isn't it just adorable? Give a big Hello to Rolex, in all my years training doggies, this is by far the smartest Pitt Bull Pup I have ever trained. See Rolex is very special and has the best genetics a Pitt Bull could ever receive. Plus, the best parents a Pitt Bull could ever receive too. Yes, I know I tell you that all the doggies that come through Cumberland Canine are special but I must say this particular Pup and Parents are even more committed than any other clients I have ever worked with. Why? Well, when Rolex's parents came to us for help training their very special Pitt Bull Puppy, they just couldn't bare the thought of him not coming home each night, which is a bit out of our policy but hey we are hear to please. So each day Rolex's Daddy brings him to Cumberland Canine (one hour drive on way), gets him all checked in and then heads back home (another hour drive) to have a normal business day, then heads back out to Cumberland Canine each evening to pick Rolex up, pick up some of his homework and then back home to Rolex's Mommy to spend the evening together. In all my 15 years of training doggies, which is now exceeding 5,000, I have never had a doggie owner even ask me if the dog could go home each night. I must say I was a little concerned how things would go under these circumstances, so how's it going? Stay tuned!!!

Hugs

You people need to stop calling your dogs Pit Bull. The World "Pit Bull" was giving to any breed of dog that can be put in pit and do that stupid dog fighting. That is the original history. These Gottilines, Razors Edge and Grey Lines are not Original American Pit Bull Terrier because the Original Dogs was breed to do that stupid dogs fights this is why you people need to understand really need to change the name of these lines. That you call APBT today.

I have been doing Original APBT for years. I am use of the Old way. Don't get me wrong Gottilines, Razors Edge and Grey Lines are find looking American Bully or Bulldogs. This is my opinion so don't get mad or start getting crazy from my words that I am saying but I OG in this Dog Business. My Family been around since 1950.
